First off: Hello everyone! How are you? I hope you're all doing well!
I'm sure you've been wondering what I've been up to. I know it's been some time since my last journal update and I apologize for that. The craziness of life has been just that. Crazy!
As most of you know, at the beginning of the year I revamped my Patreon page to be geared towards projects I've wanted to work on. Things like comics, games, art packs, and interactive stories. At this moment, I'm working on two projects and a pack once a month.
The first project is a fantasy themed RPG loosely based around nordic folklore. The main character is a young elven knight named Blayne in a world of giants, elves, and more fighting over two continents. A warrior about to discover the epic role she is to play in the End Times along with her brothers and sister. I'm currently in the process of drawing concept art and poking the Unity engine with a mighty stick. When the time comes, I'll even be calling upon my Patrons to help me play test!
The second project is the rework of my webcomic, Chrysalis, a gaslight romance horror I started a couple years ago. For some reason or another, the comic just didn't sit right with me. I loved all over the sepia tone idea with important colours being added, bright reds, blues, or greens, but it just wasn't working with the characters. Then there was the story, which to be honest was my half-assed attempt to work on something just for the sake of having something to work on. I was struggling with the overall feel and so I pulled it down. I've done some reworking of the setting and stories and generally fleshed it out to a point where I was more happy with it but then I was left with the characters. Don't get me wrong, I liked how they looked, but they weren't fitting very well into the overall image of the story. Having to explain that it wasn't an MLP fan comic was a bit exhausting as well, but that's what happens when I make the two main characters a stylized pegasus and unicorn. So Chrysalis sat a little longer while I thought about it and then, finally, it clicked; Stylized bugs. It's something different and allows me to simplify the characters' designs further than I had originally been able to. With that idea, I set to work redesigning the characters. Chrysalis isn't live yet, but with all this work it should be going up soon.
Packs are back, combined with polls to ask folks about what they want to see from some of my characters. Some of it is fan service and some of it is exercises in character growth that I haven't been able to do in some time. All previous packs have also been made available through my gumroad shop. They're all set to minimum with an option to pay more if folks are interested in helping support the content, but have no interest in Patreon.
It's been really, really cool to be able to focus on my projects and it's really because of my awesome supporters! Without you guys I'd still be struggling to find time for these projects. Thank you all so much for this and I'm looking forward to the crazy adventures that it will continue to lead to.
